In a unexpected partnership that challenges usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Revealed

According to the official statement, "An unusual confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of banned rituals and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden group.

The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Metamorphoses

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Bonus Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an unique katana together with several items concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's latest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Crossovers

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
